Man Injures Himself On Way To Jail: Deputies

MILPITAS, CA – A man who was being transferred from Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas to the Santa Clara County Main Jail injured himself and was taken to a hospital this morning, sheriff's officials reported.

While inside the transportation van at 9:50 a.m., the man began striking his head against an interior wall of the van, according to Sgt. Richard Glennon.

Glennon said the man had been restrained in the van before he began injuring himself.

Deputies told the man to stop and "accelerated" their drive to the Main Jail, according to Glennon. Medical staff evaluated the man once he arrived at the Main Jail.

He was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and he is still receiving medical treatment at this time, according to Glennon.
