'Person With Gun' At UC Berkeley Was Private Security Guard
The campus was briefly locked down Wednesday as police investigated the report of an armed man, officials said.

BERKELEY, CA – Police at the University of California at Berkeley locked down campus buildings Wednesday morning after a report of "someone with a gun," but soon lifted the order, announcing that the person was, in fact, a "guard with legitimate business on campus," officials said.
The Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez student buildings briefly were locked down at about 11:40 a.m., following the purported sighting.
"All clear for MLK and Cesar Chavez, person reported with gun appeared to be a private armored guard with legitimate business on campus," said UC Berkeley officials at approximately 12:24 p.m.

The individual was spotted in the area of Bancroft Way and Telegraph Avenue near the Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez student buildings in Lower Sproul Plaza, and police sent an alert about the incident to students at 11:50 a.m. and advised people to avoid the area.
