Milpitas Bald Eagles: Photos Of The Day

An eaglet recently took a tumble from the nest and had to be rescued.

MILPITAS, CA — The bald eagle nesting pair in Milpitas has gained quite a bit of notoriety, as people flock to the accessible nest location high in a redwood tree in front of Curtner Elementary School. This is the second straight year the pair has chosen the tree as a nesting spot. Curious bird watchers gaze at the tree and scan the sky for hours, with telephoto lenses at the ready.

Vivian Hsieh is among those who have captured photos of the birds in flight, as well as perched in their redwood tree.

One of the eaglets recently fell out of the nest. After an unsuccessful attempt to return it to the care of its parents, the eaglet got a clean bill of health at Lindsey Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek. The bird is now at a rehab center in northern California, where it will remain until it is released into the wild.

Vivian has shared some of her photos of the eagles, along with lovely photos of the nearby hills taken back in February when they were carpeted in green. The eagles can be seen returning to the nest from hunting expeditions in the hills or nearby San Francisco Bay.

Thank you for sharing your photos, Vivian.
