Police arrested a 42-year-old man earlier this month on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in Milpitas, police said. Officers arrested Milpitas resident William McCowan at 3:55 p.m. July 9 near his home, police said. The assault was reported by the girl on July 6. McCowan is a self-employed fitness trainer who was working from his home and was the girl's fitness trainer, according to police. After his arrest, officers booked McCowan into the Santa Clara County Main Jail Complex on several sexual assault offenses. Anyone with information about this case and any other potential victims are being asked to call the Milpitas Police Department at (408) 586-2400.
