Oakland Transient Arrested in Milpitas

Police accuse the man of being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

Police arrested an Oakland Man Monday night in Milpitas, after officers found him in possession of the key to a stolen car.

At 11:56 a.m., a resident reported to police that they were in the 1800 block of Milmont Drive, when they overheard a man saying he was going to turn off the power to a business, according to police. Officers responded and located a man matching the suspect description, loitering in a parking lot, police said.

Officers contacted the man and asked for his identification, after which he provided a false name, according to police. As the officer spoke with the suspect, another officer located a black, 1999 Lexus vehicle parked nearby and noticed it was warm. A license plate check revealed the car was reported stolen out of Oakland, police said.
