• Salmon Fire sparks off Highway 101 near Salmon Creek in Southern Humboldt (kymkemp.com) — Fire crews from Miranda Volunteer Fire Department and neighboring departments are battling the new Salmon Fire, a small but growing vegetation blaze off southbound Highway 101 near Salmon Creek. As of late Friday morning it’s about a half-acre in heavy timber with a slow spread, and air support is on the way. Residents should stay alert for changing conditions and possible updates.
