Jagerhaus:

A 4.5 star rating by nearly 200 reviewers, this German restaurant is famed for their Goulash, bratwurst, strudel and more. Owned by Sandra Schwaiger, this truly is authentic German cuisine, as billed. If you're a liver and onions fan, or enjoy a good liverwurst sandwich? you may never want to eat anywhere else. Find an interior that is homey, and a wait staff that will make you feel like home. It's quaint on the inside, but chances are you'll run into local German patrons. It's that authentic. Old World Village & German Restaurant:

Google fans give 4 stars to Huntington Beach's Old World German Restaurant, which has been around since 1978, serving award winning German food. This place loves Oktoberfest as much as the Huntington Beach crowd loves going there. Kids eat free on Mondays. Wiener Dog Races every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Known for their Rouladen, craft beers and bar food, if you want a party, Old World German Restaurant is Oktoberfest central. Don't miss the German Bakery, European Market and German Deli. Located: 561 Center Ave #49, Huntington Beach, CA

The Phoenix Club:

Another 4.5 stars for this Anaheim German Restaurant with Oktoberfest fanfare. Celebrate all of the trimmings every weekend in October at The Phoenix Club. Weekends only, for polka dancing, prosts in the Feszelt and Biergarten. Come for traditional German dining at Gemütlichkeit Restaurant, be sure and hit this German pub and bar. Cafe Mozart:

Okay, so the chef is from Austria, but San Juan Capistrano's Cafe Mozart is fine dining, German style. Chef Hans Löschl opened the restaurant in the late 70s, and brings his expertise to his patrons, nightly. Come for lunch or dinner, but best to make a reservation. Lunch, enjoy Goulash, a Rueben or Chicken Schnitzel. For dinner, start your traditional German meal with Bavarian Bread Dumpling with chanterelle mushroom sauce. Don't miss the Wiener Schnitzel (lightly breaded and sauteed veal filet, with lemon, anchovy and caper garnish), or the Sauerbraten (a slow roasted beef marinated in red wine, fresh herbs and vinegar) or the Jaeger Schnitzel (a thin sliced pork tenderloin, sauteed in a wild mushroom sauce.) Yes. 4.7 stars for Cafe Heidelberg. This breakfast/lunch spot is located in Newport Beach and one of the best spots for brunch in Laguna Beach according to locals. Friendly staff (order at the front, get food to your table) great juices and pastries, and close to the shore. This is not oom-pah-pah polka, but an established German bakery, offering the delicious flavors of the homeland without going over the top. Excellent danish and coffee for beach strolling in Laguna Beach. Known for their Paprika sausage. Patio dining in the Laguna Beach air. Located: 1100 S Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach, CA

Loreley Restaurant & Biergarten:

Google fans give this one 4.5 stars. Expansive and rustic, outdoor seating and delicious food. Loreley German restaurant and Biertgarten is open noon to midnight, every day in the heart of West Hollywood. The decor is farmhouse industrial with taps to spare and just about every German beer you can think of trying to say without spitting. Kolsch, Köstritzer, Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen, Hofbräu Original to name a few. For food, try the Schnitzelfingers (strips of pork schnitzel, served with honey mustard dip and fries), or any of the wide array of sausages. Specialties include the Brussel Sprouts and Leberwurst Brot. Located: 1201 N La Brea Ave, West Hollywood, CA

Rasselbock Kitchen & Beer Garden:

Google reviewers have chimed in that Rasselbock Kitchen & Beer Garden is 4.5 stars. The German themed restaurant and pub has good prices, great beer and it's named for the German take on a fictional creature--a rabbit with antlers, like the Jackalope. Think upscale German food with a modern twist. German and Belgian beers are on tap, over 35 of them according to the owners, as well as a wide selection of German wines. The restaurant is located in Bixby Knolls of Long Beach, just 10 minutes from downtown. They are known for schnitzel, sausages, Bavarian pretzels and their much lauded apple strudle.
