9 Ducklings Rescued From Storm Drain In Mission Viejo
The ducklings had fallen into the storm drain near Lake Mission Viejo before being rescued by a Mission Viejo Animal Services officer.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Nine ducklings were rescued after falling into a storm drain this week in Mission Viejo.
The incident happened when a Police Services Patrol Sergeant discovered a "clearly stressed" mother duck quacking around a storm drain near Lake Mission Viejo and Galilea, City Spokesperson Kelly Tokarski said.

Inside the storm drain, the sergeant found the nine distressed ducklings crowded together several feet below.

"While the sergeant stood by to ensure the safety of the area, responding Mission Viejo Animal Services Officer DeAlmeida was able to safely rescue the fallen babies out of the storm drain using a net and brown cage," Tokarski said. "The mama duck and her nine ducklings were safely reunited and later swam off into the Mission Viejo Lake sunrise."
