Deputies say two 20-year-old drivers, including a Mission Viejo man, were hospitalized or remained at the scene and later arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. Loved ones describe the victim as a vibrant young mom who leaves behind a child.
• Extreme heat expected across Orange County this week (ocde.us) — Mission Viejo is under an Extreme Heat Warning this week, with temperatures possibly reaching triple digits from Tuesday through Friday. County health officials urge residents to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and check on vulnerable neighbors as heat exhaustion and heat stroke risks rise.
