Be Water Safe This Summer.
Orange County firefighters will demonstrate a variety of lifesaving rescue skills needed to respond to aquatic emergencies.
The Orange County Fire Authority and the City of Mission Viejo will host a water safety day at the Sierra Recreation Center, 26887 Recodo Lane, Mission Viejo, 92691 on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 10 am to Noon.
“Children drown without a sound.” According to the OCFA, there have been 10 fatal drowning and 13 near drowning in Orange County this year. Of those 65% have been in their 50s and they were swimming alone.
Participants will see first–hand what a drowning looks like and how quickly it can happen. Orange County firefighters will demonstrate a variety of lifesaving rescue skills needed to respond to aquatic emergencies.

Water safety is critical in preventing drowning. Be prepared for summer and swimming season. Check out the educational exhibits, products and services.
Other agencies on hand are the Orange County Sheriff Department’s Trauma Intervention Program and Care Ambulance. Partners include American Red Cross, Jasper Ray Foundation for Drowning Prevention & Child Safety Nadadores Swim Team and OC Health Department.

Those who are interested in participating don’t need to register and it is free. A free recreational swim will follow along with games. Receive a free, water watcher tags and whistle.
