ANAHEIM, CA — A juvenile boy was arrested for allegedly shooting at police officers in an Anaheim neighborhood before he was driven by his mother to South Orange County.

The shooting occurred when the Anaheim officers encountered several people at 1:45 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of West Guinida Lane, said Anaheim police Sgt. Jon McClintock.

"During the contact, a suspect fired several shots at the officers and fled on foot," McClintock said. "Fortunately, the officers and members of the community were not struck by gunfire."

Neither officers nor civilians were struck by gunfire and the officers did not shoot back, he said. They called for more officers, including the Tactical Response Group and searched the area for several hours.

"During the search, detectives observed the suspect's mother driving away from the area and broadcasted information to surrounding law enforcement agencies," McClintock said.
