Chefs to Fill Bowls in Fundraiser to Remind You of Those who Have Empty Bowls
A simple, savory meal of soup will be prepared by local chefs and each guest will receive a one-of-a- kind ceramic bowl created by O.C. kids

From a press release:
On Oct. 23, South County Outreach will be hosting our Empty Bowls fundraising event from 6-9 p.m. at El Niguel Country Club. Empty Bowls is part of an international event to fight hunger, with contributions from local children and the arts community.
A simple, savory meal of soup will be prepared by local chefs and each guest will receive a one-of-a- kind ceramic bowl created by Orange County children and artisans as a reminder of those in our community whose bowls are empty. Live entertainment and a silent auction will be featured.

Every 90 cents of every dollar raised from Empty Bowls, will help provide much-needed food, housing and other resources to the unemployed, under-employed, seniors, veterans, disabled and children in South Orange County. Last year more than 250 people attended Empty Bowls in support of the much-needed services provided by South County Outreach.
THE BOWLS

Renowned environmental artist Robert Wyland is again creating a signature bowl for the event’s silent auction. At last year’s event, his bowl was one of the premier auction items. Some of the bowls that will serve as thank-you gifts to guests were created by ceramic arts students from local schools including Capistrano Valley High, Mission Viejo High, Tesoro High and Los Alamitos High. The Ceramic Slipcasting Club and the Potters & Sculptors Club, both of Laguna Woods, are also creating bowls.
As special auction items, formerly homeless children in our transitional housing program decorated 20 adorable bowls that will be featured at the event. The children were excited to make a contribution to Empty Bowls to raise funds to help more South Orange County children and families in need and working to get back on their feet.
