Crash Victim Identified as Mission Viejo Woman

A 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash at a Mission Viejo intersection this morning.

The crash at the signal at Alicia Parkway at Olympiad Road, near Lake Mission Viejo, occurred a little before 5:55 a.m, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The motorcyclist -- identified by the coroner’s office as Monica Castorena of Mission Viejo, collided with a white Toyota sedan, Hallock said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four people in the car were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, Hallock said.

Neither Castorena nor the driver of the car was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the lieutenant said.
