Family Of South OC Water Polo Student Seek Aid After Crash
The 15-year-old Laguna Hills High School student was involved in a DUI crash while driving home from a water polo game.
LAGUNA HILLS, CA — A South Orange County family is seeking the public's help after a 15-year-old girl was critically injured in a DUI crash on Wednesday, March 13.
Alexya, a water polo player at Laguna Hills High School, was on her way home from a water polo game with her aunt when they were struck by a drunk driver, cousin Leslie Zaragoza said on GoFundMe. Alexya remained hospitalized as of Tuesday.
According to South OC News, the crash was reported at 6:10 p.m. on March 13 near the intersection of Paseo de Valencia and Los Alisos in Laguna Hills. At least three people were moved to a local hospital, the outlet said.

"The drunk driver was allowed to have bail set, while my cousin and company are in critical condition fighting for their lives," Zaragoza said. "Alexya is a sweet, kind-hearted person. She's very silly and caring, and she loves water polo and music."
According to Zaragoza, Alexya had just started high school at Laguna Hills High School and is a sister, aunt, cousin, daughter and friend.
