Instagram Starlet Twins Seek Bone Marrow Match For Dad
Ladera Ranch twins Ava and Leah are using their social clout to find a bone marrow match for their dad, recently diagnosed with cancer.

LADERA RANCH, CA — Can social stardom help save a life? This Orange County family is banking everything on it. Kevin Clements, a Ladera Ranch father, was diagnosed with acute leukemia and lymphoma just over one month ago. His wife, Jaqi Clements, along with their social starlet and model twins, Ava and Leah, and son Chase hope others will come to be bone marrow matched. It is as simple as getting your cheek swabbed.
The family hosted a bone marrow donor matching from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m Wednesday at the Rancho Mission Viejo Ranch House at 35 Ascenso Avenue.
Anyone can get an at-home swab kit through the DKMS database.

With 1.5 million Instagram followers, the 8-year-old twin models are hoping that there is a match out there somewhere. The family has hashtagged the search #KevinCrushingCancer, hoping that "unicorn" of a 100 percent match is out there somewhere.
The girls' collective reach is international. One fan wrote on Instagram, "Though I live in Australia and cannot be there, you have inspired me to be matched in my own country."

There is no time to waste.
In October, Olympic-trained swimmer and father of three, 39-year-old Kevin Clements, didn't feel well. Thinking he had a pulmonary embolism, they learned on Halloween that he was facing leukemia and lymphoma diagnosis. That sent Jaqi Clements into action-mode.
The Clements family has always been up for a challenge, and this is no exception, according to Jaqi's blog. After all of his family tested and failed to be a 100 percent match, the next step was to reach out to the surrounding community.
Wednesday's bone marrow donor drive hopes to find a perfect donor for Kevin Clements, but if not, the chance of finding a match for anyone in need was enough, she wrote.
"I've always had this feeling that I was put on this earth to help others," Jaqi wrote of Wednesday's event. "Although this is certainly not what I had envisioned, I have an overwhelming feeling that this journey is going to help a lot of people."
