MISSION VIEJO, CA — On Wednesday, a southern California man driving in the area of Smokey Point, Washington was struck by two semi trucks. He was left, hospitalized, critically injured, with no brain activity.
Three days later, the mother of his young son, a Mission Viejo resident, was forced to say 'goodbye.'
"I am heartbroken," Shannon Stewart said on the Go Fund Me page, established in her and son, Jack's honor. "...I received the news that the love of my life and father of my little boy was in a terrible car accident."

Reports from the scene of the crash stated that 40-year old Dean Zimmerman was driving Northbound I-5 near milepost 204 in a Black 2010 Audi 4-door when the collision occurred. Zimmerman was transported to Providence Everett Medical Center Colby Campus.
"The doctors told me although he is in critical condition he is 100% brain dead and there is nothing they could do to save him," Shannon said. "Tomorrow they will be taking him off life support and he will be in peace in heaven. I love you Dean."

Friends and relatives have flooded the GoFundMe page with support for the mother and son.
"Dean loved Shannon and Jack so much, We were all lucky to see that love from the photos Shannon shared with all of us," Nicole Babcock stated over the GoFundMe page.
In a public post to her Facebook page, Stewart shared their family photo and a tribute to Zimmerman.
"Pain is just a word," she said. "The feeling is indescribable."
"Let this be a reminder to tell your loved ones every day how much you love them and more," Shannon said.
