Mission Viejo former teacher's body was found in Jamaica one week ago.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Officials are no closer to understanding what happened to a former Mission Viejo 4th grade teacher who was found murdered in Jamaica last week. The 68-year-old former elementary school teacher had only just arrived in Jamaica's Montego Bay when she was found murdered on a dirt road according to reports.
"Someone stabbed Heidi Muth to death in an upscale neighborhood in Montego Bay," Jamaican officials said.
Coral Bay officials reported that a resident found Muth's body along a dirt track in Hatfield Meadow, Ironshore in St. James on Sunday, Sept. 12. Her body was discovered at just before 10:30 a.m. local time with multiple stab wounds to her upper body and head according to Jamaican police. She was pronounced dead shortly thereafter at a local hospital.

An adoptive mother, Muth was a widow who shared a home with her son. She had recently recovered from cancer when she planned the trip to Jamaica. Muth traveled alone, according to CBS2 reports, but she planned on meeting someone there.
Muth's funeral will be held at St. Cecilia's Church on September 26.
