Despite not playing up to their expectations, the girls freshman soccer team at Mission Viejo High has a lot of fun and is making many memories together.
Hey everyone.
I am a bit disappointed to report that these past couple weeks haven’t been exactly what we’ve wanted them to be. Though we impressed even ourselves most of the preseason games and tournaments, we haven’t done too good in league. Even though it’s upsetting, we always keep our heads up and have a positive attitude. Our team has really bonded over these couple months.
The girls on the team and our coaches are the best I could have ever asked for. Each practice is a new (and usually funny) story to bring home and tell everyone about. We are all very close and have nicknames for most of the team members, including: Sprinkles, Chewy, Boo, Buster, Hammy, Papi, Baby D, Bean, and Corn. The nicknames each correspond to one of the infinite number of inside jokes we have.

There was one time where we wore our white uniforms and some of the girls didn’t realize how see-through the shorts were going to be when they fell on the wet grass. We never really let them forget that.
One time at one of our weekly pasta parties close to Christmas, we played White Elephant, where one person opens a random present and people after can choose to steal someone else’s present or open a new one. It’s a lot of fun as everyone brought funny gifts. Michele brought T-shirts with their faces on them and signed pictures of themselves from when they were in high school. Sprinkles ended up stealing Michele’s gift, and since Michele teaches Sprinkle’s English class, she said she was going to wear the T-shirt with her face on it to her class the next day.

So, overall, I’m glad I have the team that I do to share these laughs and memories with.
