National Night Out Unifies Ladera Against Crime and Puts Safety First

Ladera Ranch residents came together to stand against crime and promote personal, family and community safety.

Ladera Ranch residents came together to stand against crime and promote personal, family and community safety by participating in the National Night Out & Safety Fair, held in Founder’s Park in Ladera Ranch on Tuesday, August 2.

Residents enjoyed hands-on demonstrations and activities to learn the latest tips and insights from public safety professionals including fire, police, paramedic agencies who had a significant presence. The event also featured local insurance, medical and dental providers, and utility companies.

One of the main highlights was the Orange County Sheriff’s Department search and rescue helicopter which landed in Founders Park. The helicopter landing and takeoff, at the end of the event, was quite spectacular and a large draw for the estimated 1,500 residents who attended the event.

The Orange County Fire Authority displayed vehicles and equipment that many attendees had never seen before including rescue boats, large equipment trucks and search and rescue equipment. Children and some parents were fascinated having the opportunity to enter fire trucks, police vehicles, ambulances and the Sheriff’s Department helicopter. First responders were personable as they interacted with residents and answered many questions by curious residents.

The Joyful Child Foundation helped train children on how to identify potential emergency situations. The California Highway Patrol showed families how to properly install child safety seats, CHOC Hospital reminded children and parents about the importance of wearing helmets when riding bikes and scooters, and the Neighborhood Watch spoke with residents who wanted to learn more about organizing neighbors against criminals who might seek to take advantage of unsuspecting people who often let their guard down when they live in such wonderful communities like Ladera Ranch.

According to George Blair, Community Director, Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS), “The goal of the National Night Out and Safety Fair event is to keep Ladera Ranch safe, educate our residents, show appreciation for the brave men and women who help keep Ladera safe, and maintain a strong sense of community.”

“Thank you to all of the groups and organization that participated, and of course to the residents of Ladera Ranch who attended and made National Night Out our most successful yet” Blair continued.
