Orange County Cooling Centers Open During Heatwave

Excessive heat is here across OC. Cooling centers are open near you. Stay hydrated, and know when to go. Remember to check on the elderly.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — The National Weather Service has called for a "sprawling area of high pressure" slated to build over the Southwestern United States by Friday. That will contribute to hot weather for all areas except the immediate coast and the high elevation mountains, that agency said, including the areas of: Orange County Coastal Areas, Orange County Inland Areas, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Garden Grove, Irvine, Orange, Fullerton, and Mission Viejo.

Residents will experience excessive high heat watch Friday morning through Saturday Evening, with temperatures between 85 and 95, and well over 100 in some areas.

Cooling centers are available for all residents who need an escape from the blast-furnace temperatures inland. Orange County cooling centers will open for Fri 7/6 & Sat 7/7. Call 211 for locations and hours, or view this current list: www.211oc.org
