Prelude in the Park/Pacific Symphony.

Pack a picnic and join us for the Symphony celebration in the Park.

The Prelude in the Park and Pacific Symphony will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2015 starting with the Prelude at 4 pm on the Village Green, (Oso Viejo Park- on the grass) Norman P. Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way, MV 92692.

The carnival themed event is free and includes family, friendly games and activities some of which are put on by more than 30 local, nonprofit organizations and churches. Entertainment will be provided by a CirqueMirage aerialist, balloon artists, a tight-rope booth, roving vendors and a carousel.

At 4:30 pm, children ages 3-12 years old will have the opportunity to make an instrument, play a drum and meet Maestro, Carl St. Clair in an interactive hands-on musical playground.

At 7 pm the Pacific Symphony led by the talented Carl St. Clair will take center stage performing Overture to Russlan and Ludmilla, Hands Across the Sea, Edelweiss, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, Climb Ev’ry Mountain from The Sound of Music, America the Beautiful, Stars And Stripes Forever, plus various Armed Forces Salutes.

Musical guests include Sopranos, Joslyn Sarshad and Tiffani Santiago, James Lesu’i, Baritone, Chris Maze, Tenor and Juliet Kidwell,Mezzo-Soprano.

This year in an effort to support the Special Olympics World Summer Games through the Mission Viejo Host Town Program, the City is selling a limited number of reserved tables seating up to 10 people for $100.

The tables include candle lighting and a cheese tray. Guests can bring a picnic kettle corn, ice cream and more. Host Town will welcome 170 athletes from Spain and Indonesian on July 21-23 before they compete in Los Angeles.

Shuttle service from the Mission Viejo Civic Center, Newhart Middle School and the Thomas Potocki Conference Center to the event will be available from 3 pm to 9 pm. Visit www.cityofmissionviejo.org.
