Students Build Wall To Block Drivers As Senior Prank

A 3-tier block masonry wall, complete with cement, was built in secret on a school roadway, though many remarked on its poor construction.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Someone was busy over the weekend doing a little bit of block masonry at Capistrano Valley High School, specifically in the middle of the road leading to a junior parking area, according to Mission Viejo Police Services reports.

The poorly constructed three-tier block wall greeted student drivers as they arrived on campus Monday morning, May 6, according to police reports.

Cars lined the streets, instead, as kids found alternate parking areas, disrupting an already busy Monday morning, and police were called to the scene.

Hundreds of residents chimed in about the construction efforts, presumably from area teens out to have a bit of "senior prank" fun, but their comments were far from wag of the finger, leaning instead toward tongue and cheek.

"That is a sad little wall," Shannon Ramirez commented over Facebook, and she suggested the punishment might include using a chipping hammer to remove the thing.

CVHS alumnae Nicholas Akerson praised the execution of the prank, adding "I gotta say, that's one of the best senior pranks, ever!"

Still, others remarked on the construction, which overall Mission Viejo residents viewed as inadequate.

"That wall gets a D+ for execution and an A- in its effectiveness," Ryan Thomas wrote.

Finally, others mentioned the need to get trade schools, ceramics class, or other types of construction into future curriculum.

"Perhaps masonry should be added as well as woodshop!" one commenter said.

Though double lined with masonry block and cemented together, all agreed a sledgehammer should do the job.
Reports were in that cleanup was underway.

Please give yourself extra time to find alternate parking, police advised students and asked anyone who saw anything suspicious to call dispatch at 949-770-6011.
