• Laguna Beach residents push to keep emergency room open as Providence plans hospital changes (abc7.com) — Laguna Beach leaders are fighting plans to close their only emergency room, which would send more critical patients to Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo and lengthen already significant transport times. Residents argue the change could endanger both locals and tourists, while Providence cites seismic retrofit costs and low utilization as it considers shifting the campus to outpatient care or a possible mini-hospital model.
