Relatives are focusing on honoring the victims and caring for a surviving child, while multiple local fundraisers this week aim to help the grieving family. Neighbors have created a growing memorial near Orville Wright Elementary School.
   

• Modesto site selected for bioeconomy innovation campus (oakdaleleader.com) — Modesto’s Beard Industrial District has been chosen for a major new California Bioeconomy Innovation Campus expected to launch initial services in 2026 and eventually create up to 140 permanent jobs. • UC workshops for growing wine grapes and nuts in extreme and variable weather June 8, 9 and 12 (ucanr.edu) — Modesto growers have a chance next week to learn how to protect grape and nut crops from extreme heat, drought, and shifting pests at a UC Cooperative Extension workshop on June 9 at the Stanislaus County Agricultural Center. The $20 session includes lunch and expert guidance on irrigation, soil health, pest management, and weather‑informed decisions, with related workshops also happening in Stockton and Parlier.
