Modesto drug bust uncovers 60 pounds of meth, suspects now in custody (cbsnews.com) — Modesto police recently seized more than 60 pounds of methamphetamine and several firearms after a traffic stop near Kansas Avenue and southbound Highway 99 led to a search warrant at a related residence. Two suspects are now in custody on felony drug charges, and investigators say the case remains active, underscoring an ongoing local fight against large-scale meth trafficking.
3. 20-year-old man drowns in Tuolumne River in the Hughson area (fresnobee.com) — Emergency crews from Modesto and Hughson responded to a tragic drowning of a 20-year-old Hughson man in the Tuolumne River on Monday evening. Low river flows kept Modesto’s water rescue units from launching boats, forcing firefighters to search on foot before the effort shifted from rescue to recovery and the case was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office.
