Alleged Dodger Stadium Beating Victim Says Monrovia Man Should Be Charged

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The 33-year-old man who was lot said in a report broadcast today that the suspects should have been charged.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office , who were arrested after the fight following Sunday night's game.

Prosecutors referred the case to the City Attorney's Office, which will consider whether to file misdemeanor charges.

"I definitely feel they got to be punished for something; it's not like they didn't commit a crime," the victim, appearing on a darkened screen to protect his identity, told KCAL9.

The man was held down as one of the suspects kicked him and punched him in the head, according to police.

They held the victim down on the ground ... the fourth one kicked and punched him in the head,'' Los Angeles police Lt. Andy Smith told the Los Angeles Times.

A close-up aired during the KCAL report showed the man had a cut near his blackened right eye and a contusion on an arm. He was attacked as his pregnant girlfriend screamed for help.

Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the District Attorney's Office, said there were questions about whether the four men could have been acting in self-defense, because witnesses to the brawl couldn't say definitively who started the fight.

The four men -- , 30, of Monrovia; Alan Trujillo, 29, of Los Angeles; Ulisis Briceno, 26, of Los Angeles; and Alejandro Briceno, 29, of La Crescenta -- were arrested after the altercation at the stadium. They were booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and all posted bail Monday.

Police said the fight was prompted by a minor traffic accident in a stadium parking lot. The two drivers involved got out of their respective vehicles and a fight ensued. At that point, three men from another vehicle joined the fray, holding down one of the drivers, who was punched and kicked, police said.

The injured man, whose name was withheld, was treated at a hospital and released. His girlfriend, who is eight months pregnant, was taken to a hospital for a precautionary examination and released, police said. She was not involved in the altercation.

The Dodgers issued a statement saying a quick response by stadium security and LAPD officers kept the situation from escalating.

"We have made it clear that we are fully committed to providing a safe, family-friendly environment for all of our fans, and the very quick and effective response by our personnel and the LAPD officers on the scene shows that they were properly deployed and fully engaged in this effort,'' said team President Stan Kasten.
