The owner says she wanted to show that Monrovia and the wider community still have kindness at their core, and Lugo says the gesture has helped her focus on celebrating her engagement.
   

• La Cañada football breaks through late to shut out Muir (dailynews.com) — Local football fans will want to note that Muir now faces a must-win matchup against Monrovia next week to keep its CIF-Southern Section playoff hopes alive. La Cañada's 7-0 win over Muir puts the Spartans in control of the Arroyo League race, while Monrovia, coming off a loss to Burbank, also needs a victory to stay in contention.
