Blog: Paint The Town Purple for 'Relay for Life'
At Relay, you can find healing, comfort, and support from others who have faced cancer or who have lost a loved one to the disease.
The question that I have asked for four years at , "How many of you have lost a pet or someone you know to cancer?", was answered on May 6, 2012 with almost every hand raised. I am hopeful that one day, when I ask that question, there will be less hands raised in sadness and more hands clapping in celebration.
What will it take? It takes more people who are passionate about kicking cancer's butt to do something about it. It takes you to raise your hand to give your neighbor, a cancer patient, a ride to a doctor's appointment. It takes one store to put one poster in one window to spread the word about Relay to hundreds. It takes one community to gather together in support of survivors, caregivers, family, and friends.
Relay For Life of Monrovia will begin Saturday, June 2 at 10am at Recreation Park and go until 10am Sunday, June 3. Please join your community, your neighbor, your friends, your family.
Do you own a store front business in Monrovia? Enter the Relay For Life Paint The Town Purple Contest, May 15 to June 2, and let Patch readers vote for their favorite purple display. The business with the most votes will receive sponsorship recognition at Relay For Life of Monrovia. For more information contact me at 626-673-7978 or jen@twodogspaws.com
