Letter-Writing Campaign Launched to Save MHS Counselor's Job

The next step in the HERNANDEZ 2012 campaign is to have members of the community write letters addressed to the Monrovia School Board about Noel Hernandez.

The next step in the HERNANDEZ 2012 campaign has arrived! And this time, it’s taking a very direct approach.

What we at the HERNANDEZ 2012 headquarters (or lack thereof) are asking out of members of the Monrovia community is to write letters to the school board about Noel Hernandez. Write one, turn it in to us (read on to find out where), and you’ll receive your very own HERNANDEZ 2012 button!

If you don't know her personally, we ask that you write a letter focusing more on the college and scholarship process, what you think she contributes and what you look forward to having her contribute to that process, and what you think her absence would do to the students of Monrovia High School and to the community as a whole.

Simple steps to write your letter—two boxes have been set up by HERNANDEZ 2012 staff in Mr. James’s classroom; room 921, located on the second floor of the Science Building on the Monrovia High School campus. One box says “Pick-Up,” this is where you can pick up the tools to write your letter—a piece of paper lodged in an envelope already addressed to the Monrovia School Board. Once you’ve written your letter, you can drop it off in the box titled “Drop-Off.” Then we will hand you a green HERNANDEZ 2012 button to sport. Simple, sweet, and effective.

If you are unable to drop-off the letter yourselves or through a student, please email hernandez2012campaign@gmail.com with a time and a place where we can come to you and make the exchange.

We ask that all letters be turned in by Thursday March 29th partially due to the district’s entry into spring break the following day. However, if you are able to provide us with a letter over the course of the vacation dates we would be happy to oblige in obtaining a copy of it.

Remember that Ms. Hernandez works daily to benefit every single student at Monrovia High School. In just this past week I received approximately ten emails for local scholarships that I had no idea existed, even after signing up for various scholarship/aid websites. She is the only member of the Monrovia High School campus that provides that information for all students, and that is just a fraction of the work she does.

So, if you can spare a little time this week, don’t hesitate to pick up a pen and write out a quick letter for the HERNANDEZ 2012 campaign.

You have a voice, and you have a choice.
