Try saying that a few times fast. Try actually doing it!!!!!
This blog may sound like the ranting of an old woman (52), oh well so be it. I have had enough of unneighborly neighbors allowing their precious pooches pooping on my lawn or anybody else's for that matter. I have tried to follow the rules for the most part, although I do fall short. In the matter of picking up after one's pet, the Golden Rule should always apply. For anyone who reads this and owns a dog, you know what I'm talking about. I've seen the cute signs everywhere, PLEASE DON'T LET YOUR DOGS POOP HERE. So I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
If you don't want poop in your yard, here's a secret! I DON'T WANT YOUR DOG'S POOP IN MINE! Granted, I always try to take a bag. There have been times when I've forgotten to bring a bag and I'll ask the person who lives there for a bag or I go back and pick it up. There was a nice man who recently did that in my yard. He actually asked me for a bag because he forgot his. No problem.

Now I have a little dog. So little dogs have little poop. BIG DOGS HAVE MASSIVE POOP. There has been a neighbor (not next door) but in the neighborhood and they own a German Shepherd. They don't poop little either. I've noticed the giant sized poop several times, and I've picked it up.
Finally one day, I saw this person let her German Shepherd poop on my lawn and then just walked away. I had finally had it. I said in a nice way, can you please pick up your dog's poop? She just ignored me and kept on walking. I wasn't about to go after her with my Coco, because quite frankly Coco would be a snack to her dog.

I decided to play Detective Nic. I found out where these people lived and I picked up her dog's poop and dropped it off in her yard. I had to resort to such behavior. Deplorable I know. Not my finest moment, but hey, I've had worse. Thank goodness I'm not running for office, because I'd put all those notorious politicians to shame.
Then there's the little matter of walking your dog without a leash. OMG! I have another neighbor that thinks their tiny little Chihuahua is so cute and above the law. What law you ask? This one:
(`83 Code, § 6.16.010) (Ord. 95-03 § 2, 1995) It's the leash law we have in Monrovia. I see this person walk his tiny little dog everyday without a leash. The dog has literally went after other dogs. I think it suffers from the Napoleon complex. Anyway, it went after Coco, who is a tad bigger than this runt. I had to kick his dog to keep it away from Coco. I almost wanted the dog to bite me, just so I can make this dramatic point. I'm into drama. I asked the man to please keep his dog on a leash. I still see him today with his leashless dog.
It's not the dog or animal's fault. I blame the owners. It is just pure carelessness. There are remedies. For the poop, use your old bags. You'd be surprised at how many bags one accumulates. Save them all. Recycle. We also have Highland Pet Center in Monrovia. You can buy biodegradeable bags and leashes. They are inexpensive too.
Ok, I feel better now. I've really got to lay off the coffee.
