Local Monrovia basketball player breaks records while shooting for the stars!

High school basketball achievements and awards.

Brandon Averitt started playing basketball at a early age. He played AAU basketball for the Monrovia Mountaineers up until the age of 14. Once he entered high school, he would set his competitive goals of playing basketball higher, by attending one of the top high school basketball programs at Cathedral high school (of Los Angeles). After two years, Brandon would then take his talents to Tarbut V' Torah high school to continue his education. While at TVT Brandon would become 2016 Athlete of the year, 2016 All CIF - Division 5A and 2016 Express League player of the year. He would finish at number seven in the Nation amongst Jewish schools with a scoring average of 20.6 points per game. He also had seven of the highest scoring games in the Nation at 40, 36, 33, 32, 30, 28 and 25, all recorded by Jewish Hoops of America. He would go on to set a school single season record of 496 total points at TVT and shoot and make an astonishing 10 three point shots in one single playoff game, also a TVT school record. With all these accolades achieved, Brandon has been selected by Students Athlete World to represent the United States in the United World Games, an international sporting event held in Austria June 2016. Brandon is in the high school graduating class of 2016, and with his "Skill Set," we can only imagine what records he will break at the college level!
