The unidentified male was taken into custody Sunday night, sheriffs said.

Sheriff's detectives have arrested a 32-year-old man and booked him on charges of kidnapping for his alleged involvement in the abduction of a child from a yard in unincorporated Monrovia last week.

Due to an ongoing investigation, Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials were not releasing the name of the man as of Monday afternoon, Capt. Mike Parker said.

The man was arrested at a residence in the 2500 block of Peck Road and a search warrant was executed at 3:30 a.m. Monday at another residence in Los Angeles County, Parker said.

Parker said the composite sketch of the suspect was instrumental to the investigation, as residents reported seeing a man matching the description who frequents the Peck Road home after deputies went door-to-door with the sketch.

"A couple of astute deputies were shilling the composite around the neighborhood and found a couple people who might have seen him," Lt. Tom McNeal said.

Citing the ongoing investigation, authorities declined to provide details of the arrest or evidence recovered as a result of the search warrant. The fact that he matched the composite was key, Parker said.

"His resemblance to the composite and the physical description is why we made contact with him and led to his arrest," Parker said.
