This is a great time to do your whole yard, or a small section, or just a few potted plants! Or just stop by to have a look, and learn about possibilities.

The local Native Plant Society will be there, along with many plant specialists. LA County will be there for a smart gardening talk too. http://dpw.lacounty.gov/epd/sg/wk_scheds.cfm.

Monrovia Fire Department will be there with important information about fire safe planting and maintenance. Some plants are a fire hazard. Monrovia Public Works will be there with information, and to answer questions regarding drought conditions.

Please post photos of your native plants, or the lawn you plan to replace! Or just a comment or question to Patch readers.

Gardening with native plants is fun, beautiful, is less wasteful, and provides habitat for birds and butterfly’s!

For more information or to volunteer. Please contact the Monrovia Canyon Park staff at 626-256-8282
