Speaker on Cochlear Implants visits GCC Lipreading Course
Father Tom Schweitzer will discuss his cochlear implant and how it affected his life as a guest speaker in the Glendale Community College Lipreading for the Hearing Impaired course on Monday, Nov. 21 at 9:30 a.m. at the Adult Recreation Center, 201 E. Colorado Blvd. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Schweitzer is an ordained Catholic priest at the Church of the Incarnation in Glendale. He also works with the deaf at Holy Angels Church of the Deaf in Vernon.

The lipreading course is part of Center for Students with Disabilities program. It meets Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The class is free and may be joined at any time during the semester. It is designed to improve communication skills for those who are hearing impaired. Speech therapist and GCC faculty member Stela Fejtek is the instructor.
