Valentine Oldis&nbsp;an English composer best known for his consort and chamber works written for the viola da gamba&nbsp;during the English Restoration period.
Attilio Ariosti an Italian composer and viola d'amore virtuoso. He was co-director with G.F.Handel of the Royal Academy of Music in London and may have been a spy for the French court.
Richard Cobb&nbsp; an English composer who was also the resident organist for the 5th&nbsp;Earl of Bath.
Johann Schop a German composer and virtuoso violinist. One of his melodies was used by J.S. Bach.ARTIST BIOS:
&nbsp;In addition to the viola d’amore, Adriana Zoppo&nbsp;performs on violin, viola, baroque violin and baroque viola. Director/curator of the Glendale Noon Concerts’ early music sub-series, Zoppo, with Ergo Musica, is heard there frequently. Previously a member of the Carmel Bach Festival, she plays with the original instrument ensembles Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra, Los Angeles Baroque Players, Bach Collegium San Diego and the Corona del Mar Baroque Festival, where she has appeared as viola d’amore soloist. She has also played regularly with the Santa Barbara, New West, Pacific, Long Beach and Pasadena symphonies, the St. Matthew Chamber Orchestra and other local ensembles.&nbsp;
Zoppo plays for film, TV, solo artist recordings and liveshows of all musical styles and genres.
 Shanon Zusman&nbsp;is adjunct professor of viola da gamba and violone at the University of Southern California and Claremont Graduate University. He holds a D Doctorate in Musical Arts in Early Music Performance from the USC Thornton School of Music, where he studied with James Tyler. Shanon became interested in early music and the history of the double bass in particular while studying with José Vázquez in Vienna, Austria, on a Fulbright grant. He has appeared with the Bach Collegium San Diego, Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra, Camerata Pacifica Baroque, Los Angeles Bach Society, Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra, and Concordia Clarimontis.&nbsp;Shanon has taught at the national Conclave of the Viola da Gamba Society of America since 2006 and coaches the southern California chapter of the society, Viols/West.&nbsp;He also teaches courses in Music Appreciation and Music Fundamentals at Santa Monica College and College of the Canyons.

Independent Opera Company concludes its 14th season with L’Elisir d’Amore (The Elixir of Love), a charming comic opera in two acts composed by Gaetano Donizetti. Premiered in 1832, it remains one of the most beloved works in the bel canto repertoire, celebrated for its warmth, wit, and lyrical beauty.
The story follows Nemorino, a shy, earnest young villager hopelessly in love with the wealthy and self-assured Adina. When a swaggering traveling salesman, Dr. Dulcamara, arrives peddling a “miraculous” love potion, Nemorino eagerly buys it—believing it will win Adina’s heart. What unfolds is a delightful mix of misunderstandings, romantic rivalries, and gentle satire, all culminating in a joyous ending where true love prevails.
The opera is filled with memorable music, including the famous tenor aria Una furtiva lagrima, a moment of heartfelt simplicity that has made the work a staple of opera houses worldwide. Lighthearted yet emotionally sincere, L’Elisir d’Amore blends comedy with touching human insight, making it one of Donizetti’s most enduring masterpieces.
Independent Opera Company’s production will be fully staged, with beautiful costumes and piano accompaniment, performed by some of the finest local singers.
