Bites Nearby: Portobello's Mediterranean and Italian Cuisine
Fabulous lunches and dinners are served daily.
, specializing in Mediterranean and Italian cuisine opened about 3 years ago in Montrose. Restaurant owner Shakeh Kodaverdian's goal is to bring a unique, diverse menu and share her love and passion for food with her customers.
Before every meal, the restaurant serves warm, fresh bread with their own unique dipping sauce called "chimi- churi," consisting of olive oil, freshly chopped parsley, garlic and other secret ingredients. One of their special appetizers is homemade pita bread served fresh from the oven with a side of hummus, the recipe for which Kodaverdian claims has been handed down in her family for generations.
In addition to the already large menu, Portobello's boasts an expansive selection of specials. They typically have six to ten entrees beyond the regular menu selections, including "Osso Bucco," which is frequently offered. The "Beef Souvlaki" (a shish kabob) melts in your mouth. "Portobello Salad" is served with the house dressing which is a creamy Italian vinaigrette. All entrees are accompanied by sautéed vegetables and many meals come with the restaurant's own take on rice pilaf.
