Black Bear Stops at La Crescenta Resident's Door

La Crescenta residents are on alert following several bear sightings in the area this month, most recently Tuesday night.

A La Crescenta woman found a bear just feet from her door Tuesday night, KTLA reported.

Elva Sherman told KTLA that she heard her dog barking about 10 p.m. Tuesday and called her son Thomas to the doorstep, where he came outside with a makeshift weapon.

This is the same location, west of Crescenta Valley Park and south of Honolulu Avenue, .

"This big fuzzy bear just is walking like this... just happily walking down the street," Sherman said.

The Shermans estimated the bear's weight is around 300 to 400 pounds, about as tall as a person, KTLA reported.
