Blog: Economist Harry S. Dent Reviews My Report 'Inflation or Deflation?'

It doesn't mean I'm "smart." It doesn't mean I'm the world's greatest economist, pundit, PhD, or even independently wealthy.

But recently I kept discovering that the average person actually understands very little about our essential monetary system and what difference it makes to people trying to save for retirement  - as to whether we are going to experience inflation or deflation in the foreseeable future. And yet, there is no issue of greater weight, that will determine in the final analysis whether you've made good or bad investment choices this decade. Call it wrong, and you could lose everything!

In fact, most folks only know one side of the issue - "The fed is printing trillions of dollars, so we're going to have hyperinflation and you need to buy gold and silver." Oh yeah? So just where is all that hyperinflation so far? The trillions of dollars can't get past the banks, who are suffering from severe deflationary concerns. 

The fact is that you can't begin to understand either side of this issue, until you understand what drives the opposite side. And so, i set out to write a report to simplify the issue, because I thought it was very misunderstood.
