Patch Blog: Flags Stolen at St. Luke's of the Mountains

At , we strive for inclusivity and hope to send our message broadly. With flags flying for America, the different nations that make up our our neighborhood and our congregation, the rainbow, and "E" for ecology, our earth, that message can be seen from the street corner of Rosemont Avenue and Foothill Boulevard.

Saturday, every flag except the flag of the United States was stolen from St. Luke's. While shocked and saddened, the deeper message stated in that act was made clear by Vicar Bryan Jones in his sermon, "As if God loves only one country or one kind of people."  

Just recently, the congregation of The Church of the Asscension joined St. Luke's when their church was closed. This created an opportunity for a Spanish service at noon. But again, predjudice surfaced with a phone call protesting the "Mexican language on the sign."

On Sunday, money was raised for new flags and prayers to forgive the thieves were said by Vicar Bryan. By Pentacost the flags will be flying colorfully once again.
