Patch Blog: Why is the Rose Parade on Jan. 2?
Sacrificing a day of work for dead flowers pasted on a moving contraption.

While reading the Glendale News-Press on this past fine Sunday morning, I gave a chuckle at the article titled, 'Never on Sunday’ for Parade by Tiffany Kelly.
What this article posits is that since 1893 a policy was placed that if January 1 fell on a Sunday, then the Rose parade would be moved to January 2. The reason for this is because the parade would disrupt church services.
My opinion, well, for starters, is that this is severely outdated. January 2 is a workday, so what then? Hm, miss church or miss a day of work and possibly be fired? Silly!

Second, because of work conflicts I am sure attendance will drop this year.
