PROGRAM NOTES:

Along with award winning pianist Brendan White, Stefanie Fife is pleased to perform a recital of her original works for cello and piano.

The first piece, in three movements entitled "What The Moon Seas," was inspired by the ocean and its tides, as imagined in an ancient time. It depicts the water rushing towards the sand, only to retreat, then return again; each wave unique and relentless, while creatures of the pre Jurassic Era begin their first explorations of land. The second movement evokes images of rain, both gentle and severe while the third movement is an ode to the majestic thunderheads that form on the horizon then cede to the blue of the sky.

The second half of the concert is lighter in mood, and features movements from her work for cello and jazz trio. The instrumentation is reduced to feature a cello and piano duo.

Stefanie Fife, born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, began her musical studies on cello at the age of nine.

As a freelance musician in Los Angeles, she has performed with numerous local orchestras, played Broadway shows at the Ahmanson Theatre, and has played with various artists on the Tonight Show, and award shows such as the Grammy's and People's Choice. The main focus of her career has been in the recording industry where she has performed on hundreds of movies, television shows and records. These credits include "Up," "Ratatouille," "Star Wars: Rouge One" as well as several Spiderman and Mission Impossible movies. She has also recorded for icons such as Elton John, Faith Hill and Stevie Wonder.
