Crime Blotter: Ducks in Demand

Yard ornaments were nabbed by duck-loving thieves.

PETTY THEFT

A female resident of the 4800 block of Sunset Ave.in La Crescenta reported to deputies that her ducks were gone. Previously located in a planter on her front yard, the two gray, cement ornamental fowls were stolen by unknown suspects. Perhaps this was an incident of "gnoming" gone awry?

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Three laptop computers and two Swarovski pieces of sparkly jewelry were stolen from a residence on the 1300 block of Fairmount Ave. in La Crescenta.  Reported to deputies on Feb. 17, the 28-year old male victim stated the value of the stolen items to total $2,100. Authorities believe suspects entered the property through an unlocked patio door and an unlocked bathroom window.

WINDOWS SMASHED

In two separate incidents, victims reported to deputies that windows of their vehicles had been smashed yet nothing from the inside was taken.

 On Feb. 20, a male victim reported that while parked in front of his residence on the 2500 block of Hermosa Ave. in Montrose, some time during the night the driver's side window and rear view mirror were smashed on his red Scion 2-door. However, nothing appeared to be missing from inside the car.

That same morning, a male resident of the 2700 block of Pine Lawn Drive, La Crescenta, reported that the driver's side front window of his silver VW coup had been smashed. Again, nothing was reported stolen from the vehicle.

UNLOCKED TRUCK LEADS TO STOLEN KEYS

On the morning of Feb. 22, a female resident of the 2800 block of Alta Terrace, La Crescenta, reported that during the night, someone got into her unlocked Chevy pick-up truck and made off with a Sony video camera worth $500, six "Tommy Bahama" shirts valued at $300 total, and 30 keys. While the keys were valued at $50, the woman noted that they belonged to various constuction yards and sites associated with her husband's business.
