Dogs and Helicopter Assist in Car Burglar Arrests

Eddie Gibbs,18, and Brandon Hardman, 21, were arrested on Sunday.

On Sunday Jan. 16, two suspects identified as Eddie Gibbs, 18, of Sherman Oaks and Brandon Hardman, 21, of Glendale were arrested on suspicion of car burglary.

At approximately 2 a.m. police received a call reporting that two males were allegedly checking to see if car doors were unlocked near Oakendale Place and Glenwood Avenue.

Upon arriving at the scene, an officer says he observed men exiting a vehicle. Police say that when the officer asked the men to stop, the men fled. The officer then discovered two vehicles that had allegedly been ransacked.

Police say dispatch then received calls from neighbors in the immediate area reporting that someone was allegedly "running through their backyards," according to a report. Police say they set up a perimeter and brought K-9 units and a helicopter to assist in searching the neighborhood.

Police say the helicopter assisted in the arrest of the first suspect at 2908 Honolulu Ave.

At approximately 7 a.m., the second suspect was arrested at 3329 Montrose Ave. after police said they saw him "running through yards," near Montrose Avenue and Ramsdell Avenue.

Gibbs was sent to Glendale City Jail in Glendale in lieu of $50,000 bail. Hardman was sent to Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles in lieu of $100,000 bail. Hardman was previously arrested on suspicion of felony charges in Van Nuys on Oct. 5. He was released on probation.
