Donations Pour in From CVHS Parents

School would be tough without supplies, but principal Dr. Michele Doll figured out a fun way to support teachers and students .

Doll encouraged parents in the summer mailer to add a few extra items in their cart during back-to-school shopping.

"I thought it would be a fun and easy way for interested parents to support their school," Doll said. "I had no idea it would be so successful."

So far, the collection box overflows with generous and creative donations, including a box of copy paper and Costco-sized Clorox wipes. This allows Doll to add supplies to teachers' mailboxes or distribute them to individual students.

also donated a number of large paper sacks and Doll placed various supplies and passed them out to teachers at their first meeting.

• Clorox wipes

• Crayons

"When we educators look at our donations it reminds us that someone cares," Assistant principal Lisa Reed said.

“On the first day, a student dropped a dollar bill in [the box],” Doll said. “It’s pinned to the bulletin board in the office to remind us how great our students are.”

Parents, students and community members can donate items any time, including at Back-to-School Night Thursday. You just might make some teacher’s day.
