Easter Crafts Sure to Please
Here are some twists on old classics and some fun new ideas for your Easter decorations!
Dye Easter Eggs
Kids love to dye eggs and while there are plenty of great kits at the stores, it's easy and fun to make your own unique colors at home. White wine vinegar and a couple drops of food color is all you need for basic dye. You can also make your own veggie and fruit dyes. An easy one is to take yellow or purple onion skins (the dry covering around the onion) and boil the eggs in with the onion skins. Spinach leaves and carrots also produce nice, natural looking dyes for the eggs. Be creative with the kids and see what other fruits or vegetables will make good dyes.

Now that you and the kids have dyed more eggs than you will be able to eat in the next month, take those empty cartons and make a centerpiece! Cut out each of the "cups" from the egg carton to create tulips. Paint the "cups" and then place a green pipe cleaner through the bottom of the cup. Voila, an instant centerpiece!
Make Baby Chick Foot Prints

Take your child's foot and paint the bottom of it with yellow paint then paint the bottom of each of the toes with orange paint. Have them press their foot onto a piece of paper. The part of the footprint where the heel is makes a great little head of a baby chick. Glue some googly eyes on and the chick is complete. Parents, make sure to have the kids paint your feet for a complete chick family!
Family Bunny Portrait
This one is simple and can be done with items around the house. Take a white piece of paper and make it into a band around your child's head. Cut out some big, floppy ears and staple them inside of the white band so that they stick up. Take an eyeliner and draw whiskers on your child's cheeks and put a little dab of blush or lipstick on their nose. If you are brave, have your child take a turn making your face into a bunny face; they'll love it! Then, you can take a family bunny picture.
Make Bunny Chair Covers
These can be used over and over again and are relatively simple. Sew a square of white fabric large enough to cover the back of your chairs (think a big white pillow case) cut out eyes, ears, and nose and add some whiskers. Each child can make their own and it can be where they sit to enjoy Easter dinner. Check out Family Fun's extended instructions here.
