Election: Locals to Choose Community Water Supply Leader

On Nov. 8, community members will choose the future CVWD board director who will also determine further construction and rate increases in the area.

Former CVWD director Charles Beatty has lived in the Crescenta Valley for about 60 years and is also . Beatty worked in management with Ralph's Grocery Company. He is a foothills realtor known by locals as . He is a member and former president of the Crescenta-Canada Board of Realtors.

Beatty has served as CV Town Council President three times. His family, including his three grandsons, all live in La Crescenta. He has received honors from the County of Los Angeles in January 2001 and Commendation for Service as Crescenta Valley Town Council President for 2000 by Supervisor Michael Antonovich.

Ken Putnam

Civil engineer and current CVWD board director Ken Putnam has resided in both Tujunga and La Crescenta for more than 40 years. Putnam is retired from the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, where he served as a division head for more than 20 years over the Waterworks Districts. In addition, he served as city engineer and director of public works for several cities and today provides specific engineering consulting for water and sewer systems.

This father of three women served as the parents chairman of the swim team for more than 10 years and coached girls's softball in the Crescenta Sports Association for more than 8 years. He also takes statistics for the Crescenta Valley High School football team.

How to Vote

A five-member board governs the Crescenta Valley Water District, according to the CVWD. Registered voters determine the members and each serves a four-year term.

To vote for Crescenta Valley Water District director be sure to vote at your local polling place. The deadline for voter registration has passed, but to vote in future elections visit the California Secretary of State's website.
