Five Things You Need to Know Today: June 29
Start the morning off with a cup of coffee and conversation with local police and sheriff's deputies.

1) Meet officers from the and deputies for coffee from 8 to 10 a.m. at , 3747 Foothill Blvd. The Community Police Parntership began in 2009 and has become a popular community event where folks can learn more about neighborhood and crime issues, as well as get to know their local law enforcement.
2) The La Crescenta Library, 4521 La Crescenta Ave., hosts an interactive family story time from 2 to 3 p.m. The India Jane Adventurer Supreme theme includes folk stories and fairy tales collected from around the globe.
3) Learn to belly dance at the library with a presentation and basic class by performer Anaheed. Before learning some smooth moves, the history of belly dance and culture of the Middle East will be discussed, The event is free and takes place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m at the, 4521 La Crescenta Ave. Call the library at 818-248-5313 for more information.

4) The YMCA of the Foothills, 1930 Foothill Blvd., has opened registration for indoor floor hockey this summer for kids grades one through nine. Registration fees include uniform, trophy, and of course, fun. Skills clinic takes place June 30 with practice following July 11.
