Glendale City Council Seeks Closure in Sinanyan Comments Saga
Newly-elected council member admitted to the comments.
Zareh Sinanyan admitted last week to posting derogatory comments towards Muslims, women and gays on several websites.
Sinanyan admitted to the comments while being interviewed by Glendale News-Press columnist Ron Kaye. Members of the community urged the council member to apologize and admit responsibility for the comments.
Two city council members, Ara Najarian and Laura Friedman, had received criticism for calling on Sinanyan to address the comments during his run for city council.
Najarian said:
"His supporters clearly indicated these were Laura's fabrications and that we made this up. I guess the point is that this thing spun out of control for anyone associated with it. He should have admitted it before the election."
