Governor Revokes Parole for Prom Night Shooter

Gov. Jerry Brown reversed a state board's decision that granted parole to Paul Crowder, a La Crescenta man who shot and killed 17-year girl Berlyn Cosman in 1991 in an after-prom party in Anaheim.

Paul Crowder, who was eligible for parole earlier this year, has had his parole reversed by Gov. Jerry Brown, according to the Orange County Register.

Brown wrote in a letter that Crowder "does not genuinely understand or accept responsibility for his actions ... (and) currently poses a danger to society if released," the Register reported.

Paul Crowder, now 39, is serving a 15-years-to-life term for the second-degree murder of Beryln Cosman, a straight-A student who had earned a college basketball scholarship, according to the Register.
