Grayson's Tune Town: Still Striking a Chord

Forget Guitar Center. This indie guitar shop on Honolulu Avenue has an impressive collection, steady clientele and a family atmosphere that has kept it in business for over fifty years.

By the time rock and roll fever caught like wildfire in the late 1950s had already established itself as a purveyor of great records, electronics and music lessons for several years. Check out our employees, customers and unique guitars.

Ken Grayson first opened his doors in 1953 and has never looked back since, offering the finest selection of guitars, amps, and a plethora of music gear, from sheet music to band and orchestral instruments and accessories.  Moreover, Grayson's has prided itself on being a family business, offering individual attention, and astonishing prices to each of its  customers for more than half a century. According to the owner, the store now has more than 500 students of every instrument from drums to oboe and voice and beyond, with several dozen talented teachers who have taken on students from virtually all of the foothill communities.

As a musician I would like to say that my first visit to Tune Town was a jaw-dropping experience.  It is truly rare to see such a fine selection of guitars and amps both brand new, and historic in a single shop. Gazing around and pausing to strum a number of Rickenbacker guitars and a gorgeous rosewood Martin acoustic felt like a great dream.  The staff is friendly, helpful and very receptive to the enthusiasm of the individual customer.  They even let me play a relic of a Les Paul Junior i found hanging in the back room, the likes of which I have never seen anywhere else.  Whether you are a musician, or merely curious, visit Grayson's Tune Town today and make a sound. I promise that you will not be disappointed.
