An Introduction to Quantum Computation

“An Introduction to Quantum Computation” is a lecture to be given at Glendale

Community College on Tuesday, Sept. 22 as part of the Science Lecture Series.

The lecture will be held at 12:20 p.m. in Cimmarusti Science Center room 177.

It is free and open to the public.

The speaker is Dr. Kevin Scully of the Aerospace Corporation. He will give an

overview of the field of quantum computing with short summaries of quantum mechanics

and RSA encryption and discuss quantum computing algorithms. Scully works on

satellite technology at the Aerospace Corporation, where he leads a research project on

quantum computation. He earned his doctorate in mathematics from UC San Diego and

he has taught at UC Irvine, UC San Diego, UCLA, Cal State Long Beach, Cypress

College and Cerritos College.
